I have a background in Agronomy, Plant Ecology and Applied Genetics with 10 years of work experience in various capacities both in the laboratory and on the field. I have been working to solve the problem of food security, through my work with strategic collaborations with relevant stakeholders to create sustainable food system, tackling climate change by working on climate smart agriculture & breeding climate smart varieties. I have also worked as a part-time lecturer at a College of Education in Nigeria. My stint as lecturer greatly enhanced my teaching and communication skills. I was also employed at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA headquarters Ibadan as a senior root and tuber consultant for the Youth Agripreneur Project, this experience took me to different agro-ecological zones of Nigeria where I was able to work directly with rural farmers, women and youths, training and teaching them on best agronomic practices and different components of agribusiness and agricultural value chains. I was also privileged to do my Graduate Research Fellowship Program at the Genetic Resources Center unit, IITA. During this experience, I developed advanced skills both in scientific writing and research, and I was able to analyze and interpret complex data set using R & SAS programming languages. I had a Master's degree in Plant Ecology and Applied Genetics from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. |
