After a huge uptick in livestreaming to the platform over the past 18 months, YouTube has now confirmed that creators can livestream HDR content.
HDR video content is nothing new on YouTube, but this is first for livestreams after being announced in an official blog post. HDR, or high-dynamic range video, is effectively video with a more luminance, color, and contrast. HDR content, therefore, has deeper blacks and overall leaves images and video looking far more “realistic” than comparable non-HDR video.
We want to continue enabling these vibrant experiences in real-time. That’s why today we’re launching HDR for livestreams on YouTube. HDR videos have higher contrast, revealing precise, detailed shadows and stunning highlights with more clarity than ever. And by bringing HDR to livestreams, we’re unlocking the most spectacular image quality for live content yet.
youtube hdr live stream
Being able to livestream HDR content to YouTube isn’t as simple as hitting a toggle. You’ll need compatible hardware, including a camera that is capable of recording in the format, plus a display to output the video. Many smartphones are now able to view HDR content, arguably bumping this announcement.
Starting today, any creator using a supported encoder can stream in HDR to YouTube. And any viewer can watch livestreams in HDR on supported devices, including the latest Android mobile devices or your HDR-capable smart TV or streaming stick. This launch marks the first step in our journey to bringing HDR livestreams to YouTube. We’ll continue to iterate on this offering, including expanding options for creators to stream HDR from additional encoders and mobile devices.
As long as you have the right equipment, you can get started on streaming and enjoying yet more HDR video on YouTube.

From stricter disclosures to an entirely new platform, Google has been continuously working to make extensions better respect user privacy and more secure. Next year, Chrome will require users to first approve what sites an extension can access in a change to the default behavior.
Chrome, since 2018, has let you right-click on an extension to access a “This can read and change site data” menu with three options:
When you click the extension
On all sites
It’s a powerful capability that gives users the ability to restrict where an extension can run. Next year, Google will make these underlying controls much more prominent.
At the moment, these third-party add-ons run “on all sites.” Moving forward, Chrome extensions will have to request site-by-site access in a move that greatly limits what browsing data can be seen by default.
You can allow extensions to run on an entire domain. The old behavior that lets them see every single page open — which is needed for ad blockers — also remains an option. Regardless, users have to explicitly grant that permission, thus resulting in a secondary step where extensions no longer run the moment they are installed.
This change to the default level of access that Chrome extensions have is coming sometime in 2021. It will initially be enforced on newly-added extensions, but eventually, apply to everything installed on your browser.

In Africa, we’re chasing after the digital revolution in our marketing campaigns. Unfortunately, most small businesses lag behind because of their tight budget. Many businesses find it difficult to compete favorably with digital marketing elements because of money.
You shouldn’t allow tight budget stop you from taking your business to the next level. You can get to your target customers with some of these digital traditional marketing strategies. What do we mean by traditional marketing strategy? The African marketing space can be quite cumbersome. Therefore, it is necessary to make use of this marketing strategies to improve on your business.
The following are some examples of the traditional marketing strategies you can use for your campaigns or promotions.
Signage are signs displayed publicly or commercially that could be used to attract customers to a business. Even in developed countries, signage has not been ignored. We have seen fascinating brand campaigns with this toot. There was a time people ignore signage because it lacked creativity and was boring.
Most of the signage you see today are appealing and attractive. You force people to look at your campaign when make them a center of attraction. Signage can adorn your business building, or even a popular mall.
The advantage of signage is its ability to make an impression on a lot of people at once. This could improve greatly the customers who could patronize your business.
Have you thought of using billboards? Don’t leave billboards only for big brands. If it’s not an effective marketing tool, we wouldn’t be seeing more of these billboards every month. The cost is affordable compared to what you may spend on television and compared to what is to be gained in terms of sales.
If you have a creative marketing message with fewer texts and more pictures, situated at the right place, you can hit your marketing goals faster. How many times have you made a business decision based on a billboard message you saw?
Today, the email bug that we have forgotten by the snail mail bites us. Most Africans believe that direct mail is a waste of time. Who does that you may ask? Direct mail scores high on personalizing, creativity, and targeting a specific audience.
People understand direct mail business campaigns better. Many Africans ignore cold call emails because they don’t know the sender. However, with direct mails, you have no choice than read the message.
Flyers and Brochures:
We have seen the effect of flyers and brochures during promotional campaigns. We have creative designers who have made it appealing to hold onto these type of traditional marketing tools.
These tools come very cheap and scores high in attracting potential customers. It moves with the recipient and spreads your marketing campaign message. You can never tell how far these tools can go.
Face to Face Interaction:
While we live in the virtual world most of the times, the real world still takes the lead. People trust humans more than the internet campaigns, especially in Africa. The human to human physical business interaction has a lasting memory on customers. Infact, it has been said that the best way to make an impression on a customer is through a face to face interaction with that person.
Don’t forget that we have more offline customers in Africa. The cost of smartphone and data may hinder many people from using the digital world for their needs.
Networking is finding its root in Africa. We have seen many Ponzi schemes make use of networking for their campaigns successful. For the better part, multi level marketing in Africa has grown with event networking.
Likewise, you can grow your business with this event marketing.
When starting out on that business, do not forget to consider these traditional marketing strategies. Some of them may seem archaic or less effective but the truth is that these tools continue to be effective in today’s world of marketing and making sales.

HI TFANS you just got a new TECNO smartphone for the holidays? If it’s your first one it could be a little intimidating so, to get you started, here are 5 apps you should immediately install or set up on a new Android device. Alternatively, if you’re not already using these apps, it might be time to give them a shot!
1. Up your messaging game Google Messages (RCS)
In the US at least, messaging has traditionally been a sore point of Android smartphones. Thankfully, Google has been hard at work trying to fix that in recent months and now, the solution known as RCS (Rich Communication Services) is available to every Android smartphone in the world as of this year.
Telegram & Discord
If you want an app for even better messaging, you can go beyond the typical RCS and SMS. Telegram is one of our favorite messaging apps and it works a lot like the super popular WhatsApp. Unlike that app, though, Telegram works easily on multiple smartphones or tablets at one time and backs up all of your messages automatically. Plus, everything is still encrypted end-to-end and you have both voice and video calls available..
2020 has been a crazy year, but unfortunately we’re entering 2021 still with a pandemic going on. With that in mind, video calling apps are still one of the best and safest ways to keep in touch with loved ones.
One of the best Android apps for video calling is Google Duo. The completely free app makes it super easy to start video calls on Android phones and tablets as well as Chromebooks, computers, and even iOS devices. Think of it as Apple’s Facetime, but not locked down to one ecosystem. The app works with your phone number or your email address and features fun filters and even screen sharing on some devices. It’s best feature though, might just be how well it works on less-than-ideal connections.
One of the most popular video calling/conferencing tools during the pandemic so far has been Zoom. By its popularity alone, this is an app you should have installed. The service offers meetings that you can connect to with just a link or a password, easily connecting with loved ones, friends, or using it for business meetings. Many schools are also using Zoom for remote learning. It’s a powerful app, and one that’s not going to cost you anything unless you’re the one hosting.
3. Pictures and videos backup APP... Google Photos
One of the first things you should install on a new Android smartphone – or an iPhone for that matter – is Google Photos. For the vast majority of Android users, the app will be pre-installed on your device, but you’ll still need to get things set up.
To do that, simply open the app, sign in with your preferred Google account, and decide on backup options. Photos will automatically backup your pictures and videos in the background, but you’ll need to tell it if you want that done over Wi-Fi only or on cellular data as well.
4. Gboard:This keyboard has a great layout that’s comfortable for typers of all styles and supports features such as gesture/swipe typing, GIF search and input, and so much more. There are even unique features such as the recent addition of the “Emoji Kitchen” which can create some wacky emoji stickers on the fly. You can also theme Gboard to your heart’s desire.
google gboard android voice typing
Put simply, it’s an excellent keyboard that’s totally free and, if it wasn’t already on your phone, it’s one you should absolutely try.
5. Google FIND My Device
Here’s another app that should already be installed on any new Android smartphone. “Find my Device” is a Google app designed to help you keep track of your smartphone should it be misplaced. If the app isn’t installed on your device for some reason, it’s available via the Play...

If you're looking to explore virtually the struggles against the Global Pandemic, COVID-19, then "Viral Days" from Indie game developer, Quizista, is the game for you.
The virus in Viral Days is airborne just like the Coronavirus but represented as green bubbles floating around infected persons. On close contact with anyone, spreads the virus and reduces the health status bar (hit points) of the newly infected.
Gameplay takes you through 25 levels, each with its own map and days where it draws its name from (Viral Days). Each of these levels is playable in three modes ranging from Novice to Expert with dedicated goals to achieve (e.g. sell masks, hospitalize patient, etc). Before the start of each day for every level, you get a 30 seconds opportunity of the virus not spreading, and everyone localized until you give the order of movement.
You can impose lockdowns, which in-turn affects economic activities within the game, just like the realities of the pandemic in real life.
See game trailer below. Click here to download on Android and here for iOS.
Don't forget to leave a like or comment and also follow me on Tspot for more.
