What TECNO Didn't Tell You At The Launch Event Of The CAMON 19 Series.

Camon 19 series  |  2022-6-30 11:35 617

Hello T-Fans.
Yesterday (28-June-2022), we witnessed the launch event of the CAMON 19 Series following its global launch a few days earlier.

The event themed Fashion Meets Tech was graced by celebrities like Niniola, Chef Chi, Leo Dasilva, Saga, Ike Onyema, Venita Akpofure, etc.

And to be honest, the event didn't really do justice to this device. This is quite understandable, especially considering the fact that the event started over an hour late and so little could be said about the device within the space of time left. In fact, I felt so bad for the CAMON 19 Series seeing so little could be said about the ÍF prestigious design award for 2022 won by the CAMON 19 Pro.

If you are not familiar with the prestigious ÍF design award, it is actually a global symbol of excellence when it comes to design. And for 2022, Die Gute Industrieform e.V. (the ÍF design award company) received a total of 11000 entries from 57 countries. And the aesthetic and resplendence of the TECNO CAMON Series flawlessly defeated all other entries from 57 countries to emerge winner of the ÍF prestigious design award for 2022, further adding to the uniqueness of the CAMON 19 Series.

And announced during the launch of the device is "that the TECNO CAMON 19 Pro 5G will be powered by Android version 13". Although it currently runs on Android version 12 and HiOS 8.6 out of the box. So am thinking what they meant to say at the launch was that it would probably get an upgrade to Android version 13. And if this happens, the TECNO CAMON 19 Series could be the first TECNO device to operate on Android version 13, adding more value to it and money spent.

The launch event also spoke so little about the RGBW and G+P technology on the CAMON 19 Pro and 19 Pro 5G, leaving fans with more questions, especially considering the fact that the RGBW and G+P technology is still new to the industry and also on TECNO devices.

So here's what you need to know of this new tech. The RGBW (red, green, blue, white) and G+P (Glass + Plastic) technology on the CAMON 19 Series drives the next evolution of mobile imaging. Compared to the traditional RGGB (red, green, green, blue) sensor, the RGBW sensor adopts a new pixel arrangement, and introduces (W) white pixels that are more sensitive to light without distorting the original three primary colours. These improves image quality by 1.7x, with better sensitivity than green colour filter, ensuring that colours are not distorted. It also improves the brightness and overall outlook of a photo. The uniqueness of these as available/present on the TECNO CAMON 19 Premium Series (19 Pro & 19 Pro 5G)  brings consumers closer to having the photography ability of their device compete with DSLR cameras.

Another highlight of the CAMON 19 Series which the launch event gave little credit to the beautiful minds at TECNO is the OIS (optical image stabilization) + EIS (electronic image stabilization) laser focus hardware on the cameras of the premium variants of the CAMON 19 Series (19 Pro & 19 Pro 5G). This technological breakthrough on the CAMON 19 Series defeats the already amazing ultra clear and steady photography and videography hardware found on its predecessor, the CAMON 18 Premier. For those who are not familiar with these terms (OIS & EIS), OIS is a hardware solution that uses a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) gyroscope to detect movement and adjust the camera system accordingly, thereby avoiding blurred images/videos resulting from the slightest movement when taking photos or recording videos which requires steady hands. OIS works by suspending the lens over the camera module using springs and electromagnets. The phone detects the frequency and amplitude of any shake, then uses the electromagnets to match it and adjust the angle of the lens. The lens moves in the opposite direction of the shake, allowing the image to re-center itself on the image sensor. All this occurs before the image hits the image sensor, which means there is no image degradation. EIS (electronic image stabilization) on the other hand, is different. For EIS, the system detects a camera shake using its sensors, but adjustments are made when the image hits the image sensor. This is accomplished by zooming the image until it’s larger than the image sensor and scanning within the image for any movement, which is then countered by moving the image in the opposite direction. While manufacturers give you one of both, TECNO gives you both on the premium variants of the CAMON 19 Series at a price that is highly affordable when compared to the cost of devices of other brands having similar tech.

The device comes with 4 cameras and the launch event said little about what unique features each (CAMON 19, CAMON 19 Pro, & CAMON 19 Pro 5G) possesses. And as previously mentioned, the reason could be as a result of time constraints, especially considering the fact that the event started over an hour late. But you can check out the images below centering on each camera's, and its specifications.

Now let’s come back to the theme of the event, which is Fashion Meets Tech. Which to me would have been a great theme if TECNO had extended this to the packaging of the device. I was expecting to hear during the launch event that those who purchase selected variants of the CAMON 19 Series will receive a free limited edition phone case designed by the several House of Fashions/Fashionistas who graced the show. But the whole thing ended with Niniola jumping up and down the stage.

What the launch event also didn't mention, although found on the official site of TECNO is that the screens of the CAMON 19 Series are TÜV Rheinland Certified. What this proves is that the CAMON 19 Series can eliminate annoying reflections, safeguard image quality from different perspectives, facilitate adjustable blue light content and ensure displays are flicker free, providing an increased level of comfort and reduce instances of debilitating conditions caused by eye fatigue.

I'll be providing you with a more in-depth review of these devices, the CAMON 19 Series, in the coming days. Leave a like or questions on anything you'll like to know about the device. And don't forget to follow me on Tspot for more.
